Playoff Time

The Thunder have one more regular season game until the playoffs start. They are coming off back to back losses against the Indiana Pacers Sunday, and the New Orleans Pelicans last night. Last nights game was a bad loss vs the Pelicans who only had 8 players suited up, and players playing who have been out of basketball for several years.

The Thunder end the regular season tomorrow night against the Detroit Pistons. Back to back sixty win seasons are out of the question now, but the Thunder still need to have a little momentum going into the playoffs.

If the season ended tonight the Thunder would play the Dallas Mavericks in the first round. The Mavericks play the Grizzles tonight to see who has the seventh or eight seed.

Playoff basketball is back in the OKC, and all is well with the world again!

The Streak Is Over

The Thunder are getting healthy at the right time of the year. With the playoffs starting April 19th, the Thunder have everyone back from injury. Thabo returned Tuesday night against the Sacramento Kings, a game which the Thunder won easily.

Kevin Durant had a streak going of scoring 25+ for 41 consecutive games. The third longest streak in NBA history. Durant scored 23 and didn't play the fourth quarter, because the Thunder had such a large lead and were playing the next night against the LA Clippers. "I am glad the streak is over," Durant said. It tells you what kind of player Durant is, it's more about the team than about himself.

The Thunder won a huge game last night to end the four game road trip 2-2. They beat the LA Clippers in a hard fought game with keys plays by Russell Westbrook down the stretch 107-101. Westbrook scored 30 points and had 11 assists, with a huge tip in dunk to seal the game.

Next game is tomorrow night at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The Race is Over

The Thunder bounce back with 4 straight victories, after the worst loss of the year to the Mavericks by 23. The Thunder had two back to backs last week and  went 3-1 in those games.    Beating the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavilers, and the Toronto Raptors. Last night the Thunder beat the Sacramento Kings 117-96 and Kevin Durant's streak of 25 or more plus continues at 35 games.

The defining moment came Friday night in Toronto though. It was a close game throughout the game, then Russell Westbrook in the 2nd quarter hits knee to knee with another player and didn't return to the game. That put the pressure on Kevin Durant one more time to lead his team to victory and he didn't disappoint.

Regulation time wasn't enough to settle the game, and that's where the defining moment of the season came for Kevin Durant. The game was in double OT, and the Thunder were down 7 with 42 seconds to go in the game. Durant hits a three to cut the lead to 4, and then the Thunder play the foul game. Then Derek Fisher hits a three to cut it too two points. The Thunder foul again and Toronto misses both free throws, with 10 seconds remaining and Thunder have the ball. The entire building knows it's going to Durant and he gets the ball looks at the clock and from way behind the 3 point line over a 7 footer he knocks down the game winning 3!

Durant finished the game with 51 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assist. In my opinion the races for MVP is over, and the award should go to Kevin Durant. He was named Western Conference player of the week again averaging 40.1 points last week.

The Thunder play the Dallas Mavericks tonight in Dallas, and they have a little payback on their mind from last weeks lost to the Mavs.

Up's and Downs

The Thunder continue to go up and down since the All Star Break. After losing 3 in a row they won 3 in a row. Then they went on a many West coast road trip and lost two games were they led by 16, and 18 points.

Defense for the Thunder has been suspect at best as well. Gerald Green scores a career high 41 last Thursday night vs the Thunder. Also Jodie Meeks scored a career high 42 points Sunday when the Thunder lost to the Lakers. With Thabo and Perkins out the defense has lost some toughness and grit.

The Thunder bounced  back from back to back losses against a hot team the Houston Rockets. It was a good hard fought victory with tempers flaring up several times throughout the game. With a 106-98 win Tuesday night the Thunder try to get some revenge tonight vs the LA Lakers.

The Thunder are a half game back in the standings behind the Spurs in the Western Conference.

Tonights game can be seen on TNT tonight at 8:30pm

Guest Speaker

Mark Mazetti from the New York Times, had a lot to say about the "Shadow Wars," going in our country. Mazetti covers the National Security Administration, and the CIA. He went in great length to talk about what really goes on behind the scenes.

Mazetti has worked for the LA Times, and has wrote several books such as, The Way of the Knife , The CIA , and A Secret Army . Mazetti has extensive knowledge on what the CIA does, and how little they share with the public.

I am very glad I got to attend to gather more information on what really goes on in our nation behind the scenes. Mazzetti is well known author, and I could tell he knew what he was talking about!

A Few Changes

After the Thunder lost 3 straight games since the All Star break, panic started to settle in for Thunder fans. With a hard fought win Friday night against Memphis 113-107 it settled some fans.

Sunday nights winter weather didn't prevent Thunder fans from showing up in full force against the Charlotte Bobcats. It was a close battle until the mid 4th quarter when the Thunder broke out with a blow out win 116-99.

Also Saturday it was made official the newly acquired  Caron Butler joined the Thunder. The Milwaukee Bucks bought out his contract, and the Thunder signed him for the rest of the year. He will bring veteran leadership, and hard nose defense and can shoot from the perimeter.

Even though the Thunder gained a player, they lost one as well. Thabo Sefolosha got injured early in the Memphis game Friday night. Sefolosha will be out 4-6 weeks with a calf strain. Caron will be implemented into the Thunder lineup tonight vs the Philadelphia 76ers.
